FAQ

Where are your products made?
Color, motif, application etc.
How do you come up with your designs and who makes them?

Every single design comes from our pen or the creative genius of our chief designer and co-founder Antoine Capeyron and the entire team. We let ourselves be inspired by our natural environment with a penchant for mathematical relationships, recurring patterns, exceptions that prove the rule and bizarre circumstances.

In addition, you, our customers, play an important role in the development of new designs with your feedback. Even if we speak a clear design language, in the end we don't (just) do it for ourselves, but for you.

What are you doing in terms of sustainability?

We would like to make a small contribution to a sustainable change in urban mobility, which means that we also have to make certain demands of ourselves to meet this goal.

What can we do? As far as possible, we avoid using non-recyclable materials in our packaging, which consists almost exclusively of cardboard and can therefore be returned to the cycle. With the exception of our clothing items, our value chain is located entirely in Berlin and the surrounding area. That's why we have short delivery routes, most of which can be done by bike. We don't have a company car, but we do have a cargo bike. In addition, we support organizations and mobility initiatives such as Changing Cities e.V., which are committed to reducing car traffic and expanding the bicycle network in the city.

What do I have to consider when sticking?

First of all, the surface to be covered must be clean and free of grease. Also note the tips and tricks included in the instructions. Most of our stickers come with an application film that helps you when sticking them on so that you don't have to touch the adhesive surface and can place it more precisely. The first try should then be the best, because the adhesive is so strong that it is difficult to remove it without damaging the film.

What surfaces are the stickers suitable for?

Our stickers stick best to smooth, solid surfaces, i.e. bicycle frames, helmets, mudguards, child seats, etc.

If you are looking for reflective stickers that stick to textiles, then we recommend the STICKIES, which were developed specifically for this and really do stick well to all surfaces.

Do the stickers on the Urban Arrow boxes hold up?

Unfortunately not really good. Some say it works, some don't. In any case, we advise against it, since the hard foam surface is not well suited as a primer.

Alternatively, you can use the STICKIES textile stickers, as they have good adhesion properties on all surfaces, but of course you are limited in the selection.

Do the stickers also hold up in the rain? How tough are they?

The stickers are weather-resistant and can withstand any weather and temperatures from -20°C to 80°C. Our prints are also scratch-resistant and UV-resistant. No fading or peeling. The adhesive sets after approx. 2 days and then the stickers are bombproof. It is important that the surface is carefully cleaned before sticking.

Thanks to the silicone coating on the stickers, you can easily clean them with a cloth and water or, if you want, even hold the garden hose on them. They can take it.

Can I get the stickers off?

And. Ultimately, they are "only" stickers that can be removed again. However, the downside of the extremely high resilience and resilience is that detaching it can be a neat fiddling job. The longer the sticker sticks, the harder it is and the more difficult it is to remove.

Do you have tutorials and videos where you can learn something?

Give! We try to capture all sorts of tips and tricks for you inDIY videos and give you the feeling that you can definitely do it! Even if it seems complex at first glance...

We take frequent inquiries about certain applications as an opportunity to film new how-to videos for you and publish them bothhere and on ourYoutube channel.

How long do the stickers reflect?

7 years guaranteed. Probably even for a lifetime.

How does black reflect?

Black reflective stickers are a fantastic solution, especially for those who like to keep things unobtrusive and minimalistic. Because of their inconspicuousness, they are also so popular.

Reflective materials reflect incident (usually white) light back to the source, picking up the color of the reflective surface. With a black reflecting surface, the white light is darkened, so to speak, resulting in a "dark white", if you will. This also explains why silver-white foils and generally bright surfaces have a higher luminous intensity. Nevertheless, the reflective power of our black variants is still fascinatingly high and therefore a significant gain in visibility on the road.

Why can't I see the reflection?

When we say reflection, we mean retroreflection (which is the technical term). Retroreflective surfaces refract light and reflect it back towards the light source. Therefore, in a car with the headlights on, traffic signs are seen illuminated, while bystanders (e.g. pedestrians) do not see the sign illuminated. Retroreflectors therefore do not scatter so much, which has the advantage in road traffic of avoiding sensory overload. Our material, which we use for stickers and clothing, works on the same principle.

To experience the reflection of the stickers live, hold a flashlight between your eyes and shine it at least 1.5 meters away. Alternatively, you can also take a photo with the flash on. Since the flash of a smartphone is usually installed very close to the lens, the effect should be very strong here.

Do you also have matte stickers?

You have a matt bicycle frame and are looking for suitable stickers accordingly. It is usually the case with black or dark gray.

A matt finish on the foils impairs the reflection properties due to the additional pigmentation. Therefore, this is not a solution for us with the black variants. However, the "normal" glossy foils look very subtle, even on matt surfaces. This is confirmed by many customers who are happy with it. The difference is smaller than expected.

Are your products STVZO approved?

No, our products are not approved according to the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). So you can't just replace the mandatory reflectors with ours if you want to be on the safe side by law.

We cannot answer with 100% certainty whether the attachment of additional reflectors to the bike is prohibited. The handling of the Federal Motor Transport Authority gives an idea that such reflectors on the frame or mudguard do not pose a problem, in the spokes it could be rather tricky.

In all these years, however, we have not heard of a single case of too much reflection being complained about in practice. It also just doesn't make any sense. Passive light sources such as our reflective stickers do not irritate like self-illuminating LEDs do, but the STVZO makes no difference in the relevant paragraph.

Are you even allowed to put stickers on helmets?

Many helmet manufacturers warn against applying stickers, saying they could affect the surface structure. Understandably, manufacturers want to protect themselves against uncontrolled interventions by end users when it comes to liability issues.

After several tests, our stickers were classified as unproblematic by a well-known manufacturer. This judgment coincides with our assessment that the solvents, which are only present in volatile quantities, are not suitable for negatively influencing the structure of the helmet.

We would never get around to completely ignoring any warnings in your helmet's package insert. But a realistic classification of this topic can't hurt.

If a helmet is there to protect your turnip in the event of an impact, it would be nice if it didn't disintegrate as soon as you put a sticker on it, right?!

Shipping & Returns

How and when do you ship? How long does the delivery take?

We usually ship your ordered goods within 2-3 days. For clothing it can sometimes take up to 7 days because we apply the prints on demand.

We send smaller orders that easily fit in an envelope with Deutsche Post, recently with basic tracking. By sending letters, we can keep the shipping and thus also the product costs low for you, but detailed shipment tracking is not possible in this case. We're doing our best to be spot on, but we're not amazon prime and we don't intend to be. Anticipation is also known to be the greatest joy.

Larger orders go out with DHL as a package or consignment. You will receive a shipping confirmation by email when the time has come and you can use it to track the delivery status.

I have not received a delivery status. Why not?

First of all, the tip: Check your spam folder to see if there is an email from us!

No? Then your order has either not left our shop yet, or you will receive a letter that cannot be tracked, which can be the case with small orders in particular. Letters have the advantage that the goods end up in your mailbox in a very uncomplicated manner, even when you are not there, and we can keep the prices low thanks to the manageable delivery costs. The downside is that you can't track the show closely. A bit of patience is sometimes necessary.

You can track packages with DHL. When the shipping label has been created, you will receive an email notification if you entered a valid email address with your order.

Is collection possible?

And! You can place your order in our shop at Senefelderstr. 8 pick up. If you want to come outside the opening hours, please make an appointment with us beforehand.

I would like to return an item. How do returns work?

There are several good reasons why you might not want to keep and return an item to us. We make this dependent on whether we will bear the costs for the return shipment or not.

In any case, we would ask you to contact our colleague Agnes first with your concerns. You will find an uncomplicated solution. It is clear that we are responsible if we are at fault (packing errors, product defects, etc.) and compensate for your damage as quickly as possible. If you just don't like the item, which is also perfectly legitimate, we will of course also take the goods back.

The return address is:

REFLECTIVE Innovations Berlin GmbH, Senefelderstr. 8, 10437 Berlin

Where else can I buy your products?

Our dealer network is constantly growing. Since we sometimes sell some products through wholesalers, we don't even know where they end up in the end.

If you miss our things in the local bike shop or creative shop you trust, please let them know about us. Who knows, our products will soon be there to touch.

Services

Do you also offer on-site foiling?

"I have two left hands and I never do it as beautifully as you can," is often the introduction to the question of whether we can put the sticker designs on your bikes.

We want to take that fear away from you. First of all, we design our products in such a way that it is difficult to screw up and we test this in advance with people who are unfamiliar with the subject. Second, we put brains into our accompanying guides, which include all the techniques and tips you need to know. Third, we've shot a series of Do-It-Yourself video tutorials so that you can virtually look over our shoulder from the comfort of your own home.

If you still don't want to be able to do it, then feel free to contact us. We charge €75 per hour, provided we have free capacity.

Can you have your own stickers/designs made?

Yes you can. Individual orders in small quantities are of course always a bit more expensive, but we try to implement your wishes if possible.

As a guide for your wallet: €39 net set-up costs are always a one-time fee. The rest depends on the design and edition.

You can either provide us with a finished vector graphic or even have us create a design, which we can do for 45€ for 30min. calculate.

Your inquiry is welcome. We would be happy to advise you. Just write to us!

Are you available for sponsorship campaigns for a good cause?

Definitely! We're happy to have giveaways rattled out of our ribs when we see the good intentions of your project. We have already supported a large number of campaigns that promote sustainable mobility, humanity and solidarity, and we regularly carry out such campaigns ourselves.

In addition, we grant civil society organisations, associations and initiatives a 20% discount, be it products from our range or tailor-made solutions. We love to hear your ideas and projects. Feel encouraged to get in touch with us!
